Welsh for “Under the oak tree”
Pronounced: oh dan uh ther-wen
Welcome. Here at O Dan y Dderwen, I offer support guided by the signals from the body - such as pain, fatigue and the symptoms of stress and burnout.
Inspired by the oak tree’s steadfast, deeply rooted presence, this is a place that doesn’t ask you to fix or manage what you’re experiencing. Instead, it invites you to return to what has always been alive and real within you and to trust your body’s own intelligence again.
For over a decade, I worked as a chronic pain specialist physiotherapist, supporting people who had often tried everything - strong pain relief, different treatment approaches, exercise programmes, even surgery - and were still living with pain, tension, or unresolved symptoms.
I noticed something very important about pain.
Beneath the physical symptoms, at the root of the problem, there was almost always a nervous system stuck in survival; a body holding old patterns; and a person who had learned to push, cope, or disconnect just to get through the day.
Treating the body without listening to these deeper layers often resulted in symptoms continuing, rather than resolving. It also became clear to me that we often overcomplicate symptoms, layering effort, analysis and intervention onto something that is frequently asking for simplicity instead.
This realisation changed the direction of my path and practice going forward.
I have years of extensive clinical experience alongside a deep trust in the body’s own innate wisdom and our natural need for simplicity. I practise as a Somatic Experiencing® (SE) practitioner, alongside energy and frequency-based approaches. Nature also plays a central role in my work, offering a sanctuary to slow down, rest, and listen to what the body is already communicating.
This way of offering support has been shaped by the times I have spent resting beneath oak trees in the Welsh hills during very difficult periods in my own life - sitting quietly, leaning against their solid, rooted presence and sensing the steadiness of something that doesn’t rush or demand anything. That same grounded presence is woven through everything I offer - walking outdoors, gathering with others or meeting one-to-one.
If you’re living with pain, fatigue, symptoms of stress or burnout or symptoms without a clear explanation, my approach may offer a different way forward for you - not by asking you to fix, manage, or keep working on yourself but by offering the space to slow down, rest and reconnect - allowing balance, ease, joy, and vitality to return naturally.
If this is resonating with you, you’re very welcome to get in touch - it would be lovely to hear from you.
With enough stillness and space, the body knows the way back home.
Sessions are offered online and in person across Denbighshire and surrounding areas - in both Welsh and English.
"I only wish I could find the words to fully express my gratitude for Lisa, without exaggeration - it has been my lifeline. Lisa’s professionalism, wisdom, warmth, generosity, and intuitive presence is the greatest gift on what has been a very challenging journey."
"Lisa has completely changed my life in more ways than I could have imagined. I feel like a different person. I feel strong and empowered. I will be forever grateful. I have already recommended her to many people."
"Her kind and calm manner and her vast knowledge was so helpful to me when I was completely overwhelmed by my diagnosis and was feeling absolutely lost."
“Five stars do not do her justice. The group relaxation for chronic pain session actually made me feel in control of my pain for the first time in almost a decade. THANK YOU!”
